Vehicle graphics is one of the most cost-effective means of advertising for small business owner, tradesmen and contractors. When combined with online strategies, can enable any small business owner to dominate their local market in as little as 90 days.

Unfortunately most small business owners simply do not understand Marketing and unfortunately neither does most Designers or Vehicle Graphics Companies. Most companies are good at designing, printing and installing attractive graphics, but they are surprised when they don’t get the result they desire.

The key to creating graphics that attract customers is to focus on connecting with them. A tired overworked business owner is not interested in cute and clever graphics on his drive home. He is thinking about his problems and how to solve it. In many cases he doesn’t even associate your product or service with a solution to his problem. You need to ask the right question, make a statement or provide an image that speaks to the emotion he is experiencing, on his drive home.

For example, he may be stressed out about his installers or his delivery staff taking too much time. He is wondering if the are stopping in at the bar or running personal errands during work time. If you sell a GPS Tracking System and you promote all of the technical features on your vehicle, he may not even notice it, because it doesn’t speak to his problems and he is not able to connect the dots.

If however you had a clean simple design with a bold caption stating “Where On Earth Is My …. Staff, Its 5:00PM?” -> SmartGPS.com
you are more likely to get his attention. Now if you add the right emotional triggering graphics, you have a winner.

If your objective is to dominate your local market, you need to be conscious of the emotional dynamics of the community and use this information to capture attention. Vehicle Wraps designed for Toronto will not work in New York, Ottawa, Montreal or Chicago. In fact what works in Downtown Toronto will not even work in rural Mississauga, Scarborough, Vaughan, Markham or Brampton even though they are all within a 45 minute drive. Use your knowledge of the local community to play to the emotions of your target audience and what is foremost on their mind.

If you drive to Downtown Toronto daily, your vehicle graphics marketing should be targeted to rush hour commutes.Your audience is focused on work or business. If you’re driving around Rural Vaughan, Mississauga or Scarborough your target may be more focused on shuttling the kids or community activities. You will be able to hold their attention longer because it’s not quite as hectic. The weekends will also provide great opportunities as well as community events. This is not likely the case if you are targeting rush hour traffic in downtown Toronto, Ottawa or Vancouver.
These are not hard and fast rules but they need to be considered as part of your advertising strategy, if you are focused on dominating your local market. It really doesn’t matter if you are using van graphics, car wraps or even magnetic car signs. It’s all about understanding your customer and connecting with them on an emotional level.

There is a vast amount of information on the benefits of vehicle graphics marketing, but very little information on how to choose the right vinyl for your vehicle wrap.

To be able to choose you need to first understand the what compromises a vinyl vehicle wrap.

There are two types of vinyls used in vehicle graphics. The first and most popular is a Cast Vinyl which is manufactured in such a way that it does not shrink or stretch or change its shape once installed. It is also significantly more expensive than calendared vinyl.

Calendared vinyl is the most popular vinyl used by Sign Shops for printing. It is ideal for flat surfaces, such as posters and wall graphics.

When heated and stretched, it has a tenancy to return to its original shape, it tends to shrink over time, so for that reason it is only used on vehicles under specific circumstances. It is less expensive than cast vinyl.

Vehicle Graphics is normally printed on a Cast Vehicle Vinyl which conforms to the body of the vehicle and will maintain its shape, even when heated and stretched.

It also has properties which make it easier to install and remove, without damaging the paint.

Once printing, the panels are laminated with a special transparent film, so that the printed surface is protected from the elements and abrasion. Some companies use a liquid laminate to reduce cost, but the liquid is not as durable as film and will typically not last as long as a film laminate.

A liquid laminate may be acceptable, when cost is an issue or if you need to stretch the vinyl more than normal, or on irregular corrugated truck bodies.

Vehicle Graphics Vinyl has an adhesive backing, which allows it to be applied to the body of the vehicle by an installer, using a squeegee and a heat gun. The vinyl is stretched and applied to contours and crevasses, to make it look like it was painted.

Since the common width of the panels is approximately 50 inches, it may be necessary to tile the panels similar to wall-papering. The panels are overlapped approximately 1/2 inch when tiled.

Now that you know a bit about the vinyl, and how it is applied, let’s discuss, “How to choose a vinyl that will look good and last for many years”

Most Vehicle Graphics Companies standardize on one particular vinyl manufacturer, based on cost, performance or comfort level, with that product.

Most manufacturers warranty their vinyl and laminates between 3-5 years, but there are typically conditions associated with the warranty so its best to check.

The most popular brands are 3M, Avery and Oracal for cast vehicle vinyls and a number of other manufacturers for calendared vinyls.

These are my suggestions:

Lettering
For lettering projects, request a cast vinyl that will last for at least 5 years outdoor. Calendared vinyl lettering will shrink and leave an ugly outline around the letters and may also crack prematurely. You may see this on some older van graphics.

Vehicle Wraps
For wraps you should request a cast vinyl and a cast film laminate for maximum durability. A liquid laminate will reduce cost but you will need to compromise on durability.

Short Term Promotional
For Short Term or promotional auto wraps, a promotional vinyl or a calendared vehicle vinyl are both acceptable and lower cost.

Flat Surfaces
For Flat Surfaces on trucks, trailers or buses, a calandered vinyl is acceptable to reduce cost, but make sure it is laminated for durability. Truck and bus washes are fairly harsh so avoid using a liquid laminate unless pricing is an issue.

Contoured Surfaces
Cast vehicle vinyl should be used for auto wraps because of the amount of stretching required.

Conclusion
Seek the advice of a good Vehicle Graphics Company and tell them how you’re going to be using the vehicle as well as how long you plan on keeping the wrap.

Weigh the cost against the quality and long term durability before making your decision. Trying to save by using inferior quality will cost more in the long run but if you are on a tight budget a short term solution may be the only option.

If you are on a tight budget this > short 2 minute video might help you get the best bang for your buck .

Van Graphics are associated with Contractors, Tradesmen, Repairmen and Delivery Vehicles. Like it or not, your van is sometimes the only impression a potential customer has of you. The first thing they do when you knock on their doors, is to look at you van, to see who they are dealing with. The overall impression they form of you and your van, will in many cases dictate what they are willing to spend on your services.

Some busy tradesmen believe that it is not necessary to invest in vehicle graphics, since they are not actively trying to solicit new business. They don’t realize, that by improving their impression, they could potentially increase their profitability on each job. Most are so focused on providing a service, that they don’t really understand the value of making an impression.

Here are some of the biggest mistakes made with their Van Graphics and how you can avoid them.

No Marketing Strategy
Trying to appeal to everyone with no focused message, so the result is you appeal to NO-ONE. It is extremely important to first decide who you’re targeting and position your solution to speak to their needs. Ignore everyone else. This holds true for all vinyl vehicle wraps.

Too Much Information
Trying to cram too much information on a small space on the vehicle is counter productive. They don’t want to leave out any of their services. This result is text that overwhelms the reader, so they tune out and don’t read anything. Keep it clean and simple. Give them a reason to say, “that’s the company I want to do business with.” Make it easier for them to read your information quickly.

Unattractive Design
Most Tradesmen simply underestimate the value of an attractive well-designed graphic. It’s ironic as they might be dealing with home owners that have a keen eye for design. Well designed van graphics does not have to include any actual graphic images, but the less graphics you have, the more important the font style, color, size and placement on the vehicle. You can create a very attractive design using just simple lettering and your company logo. Monotone, text colors with cluttered, blocky letters devalues your services.

Not Spending Enough
It’s important not to overspend but the quality of the vinyl can vary significantly, and the real value is in the design and installation expertise. Make sure you spend what you need to, so you get the best possible image on your vehicle. What’s your image worth to you? If you cant’s afford to do it right, you should hold off, as you will be stuck with it for at least 3 years. It could make a huge difference in your bottom line.

Don’t Frustrate People
Have you ever seen van wraps, or other vinyl vehicle wraps, with elaborate images and a caption like ,”Cordell Stone”, but you have no idea what they do with stone? Doesn’t it make you frustrated? If you plan on capturing people’s attention, you owe it to them to communicate what you do, or it’s frustrating and rude in my opinion.

Conclusion
You image is extremely important and Van Graphics can be an extremely powerful marketing tool, so find a good designer or vehicle graphics design company, that understands marketing, to help you create and attractive image for your business. Make sure you take all the time you need, to really understand who you’re targeting. Your message needs to appeal to them, within 3 seconds. Don’t do what everyone else in your industry is doing. Remember, your goal is to stand out not blend in with your Van Graphics.

Most Entrepreneurs and business owners overlook the opportunity to promote their business or service to hungry prospects while driving around. The more driving you do the bigger the opportunity to promote. Magnetic Car Signs gives you the flexibility to promote or blend-in when you want to.

Magnetic car signs are perfect for:
Home Based and Part Time Business Owners, Network Marketers, Online Marketers, Contractors, Installers, Sales Reps, Spouses of Business Owners, Real Estate Agents, and Organization Members, are all perfect candidates, because of its low-cost and flexibility, when compared with auto wraps. You can also do affiliate marketing by promoting someone else product, so you get paid for driving around. How cool is that?

Remember, you don’t have much space so you you to be very creative. Remember a picture is worth 1,000 words.

Some creative ideas:
Put your company name, phone number or website on your sign, but you need something that will cause people to contact you, or go to your websites. Pose a question and point them to your website for the answer. Make them an offer, that they can claim on your site. Use a graphics that provokes thought and resonates with your target client. The same is true when you’re ready to create your custom car graphics or van wraps.

Leverage your relationships:
If you have employees or contractors you should consider compensating them, to put you message on their vehicle, during their commute. Perhaps you can offer their gas mileage, while they are displaying your sign. It will be a business right-off.

What’s involved:
The low-cost of magnetic car signs, makes it practical for you to invest in multiple signs, so you can promote different offers, or different business. Use magnetic signs to test offers before deciding on a full Wrap. You can use it to supplement any auto wrap or vinyl vehicle wrap.
This is a great way to change any area of content on any existing vehicle vinyl wrap. It’s also great for areas on van wraps, to keep the content current and fresh. Your Vehicle Graphics Company should be able to work this into your design.

Some cautions:
Magnetic vinyl is not recommended for high-speed driving and most companies will not warranty then if they blow off. The key to reducing the probability that they blow off is to make sure you have a strong magnet, as there are available in different strengths. Keep the size small and make sure they lay flat on the vehicle. Car vinyl wraps tend to have more contours so use on flat areas only. Front doors are the most practical areas, but the back of the vehicle offers more visibility. Van graphics or other types of auto wraps provide more flexibility to be creative because of the larger size.

If vehicle wrap pricing has prevented you in the past, from investing in Vehicle Graphics Advertising, you now have numerous great ideas for under $100. It’s best to work with a good designer or a vehicle graphics company so they can help you with your project. Feel free to use your imagination to create your own profitable ideas.

Auto Wraps are a perfect tool for Niche Marketers, because it allow them to communicate with a captive audience within their community. If done effective, it can be the most powerful and cost-effective form of marketing. The popularity of the vinyl vehicle wrap over the past few years, is proof that business owners are experiencing results, but a large percentage are simply ineffective. The following guidelines, will dramatically increase you chances of success with any form of Vehicle Graphics Advertising.

Limited space to communicate.
The amount of space to communicate graphically, on most vehicles is limited. Van graphics will give you quite a bit of flexibility, but if you plan on using custom car graphics or magnetic signs, you will need to be more creative.

Focus on them.
Remember the objective is to attract the attention of your ideal customer. Who is your ideal customer? What solutions are they actively looking for? What keeps them up at night?

Communicate one solution.
Once you understand your target prospect, you will need to create a message that targets their needs. It should cause them to say “That’s the company I want to do business with.”

Give them a reason to contact you.
It’s not enough to connect with them, you need to give them a compelling reason to copy your URL or call. Present them with an offer on your vehicle. An electrician could say “Go -> Safety tips for small children, pets etc.” The goal is to get them to go to your website, and enter their e-mail to claim the offer. Now you can build a relationship. You message will be limited by the type of vehicle, van wraps will give you the most flexibility.

Use the most visible areas.
Concentrate your message at the back of the vehicle as this will be visible to drivers behind you and produce the most impact even on car vinyl wraps. The area at the sides above the wheels is the second most visible area especially on van wraps. The windows can be covered with a see-through perforated-window-film, which allows for your message, while offering visibility from inside.

Coverage should be consistent with your niche.
Your niche will determine the type of graphics and amount of coverage. If you are selling a high prices item to an affluent customers, you may need to invest in a full wrap. If you are a contractor, lettering and logos would be just as appropriate. Since vehicle wrap pricing is based on the amount of coverage, you will need to work within your budget. Custom car graphics can be fairly inexpensive, while a fully wrapped van will be more expensive.

Communicate with a designer
Once you know exactly what you are trying to accomplish, it is extremely important to enlist the services of a designer or vehicle graphics company so they can turn you vision into a reality. Let them know your budget and ask for their help in achieving it. Make sure they understand vehicle graphics marketing.

CONCLUSION:
Now you’re ready to start benefiting from Vehicle Graphics Advertising but you will need a very focused strategy and a competent vehicle graphics company to to achieve success. The information above will save you money and help you to attract the most customers within your niche.

Derek Creavalle is the founder of VehicleGraphicsAcademy.com, a resource dedicated to helping business owners achieve success with Vehicle Graphics Marketing.
To be successful using Auto Wraps it is important to take a systematic approach, so take advantage of our Steps To Success System to simplify the process and virtually guarantee success, with auto raps or Van Wraps.

Contractors are one of the most common users of Vehicle Graphics and Wrap Advertising. This is without question one of the most practical and cost-effective forms of marketing for the busy contractor on a budget. Unfortunately most are poorly done and simply do not adhere to effective marketing strategies so they are a waste of money.

Here are some helpful guidelines if you are a contractor interested in getting creating a flood of customers while staying within your budget.

Step 1. Focus Your Marketing: Decide on exactly who your ideal customer is and base your message on addressing a problem they are actively looking for a solution to. You will need to give some careful thought to this as your objective is to create a message that will resonate with them, no one else. This should be short, clear and concise.

Step 2. Decide How Much You Can Afford To Spend: Establish a budget for your graphics and remember that this is a marketing investment so your focus should be on maximizing your return on investment not on minimizing cost. Spend as much as you can afford to but not less than you NEED TO. The graphics will last for three to five years so you will be stuck with it for a while. Keep this in mind when establishing your budget.

Step 3. Select a Vehicle Graphics Company: Once you have a budget and clear idea of who you are targeting you will be in a better position to interview a Vehicle Graphics Company to help you accomplish your objective. Let them know what you budget is and ask what they would do for you based on your objective. Remember the amount of coverage is not as important as the message, and design. The company you select should understand marketing and vehicle Graphics Advertising

Step 4. Evaluate the Design: Evaluate the design based on your ideal customer and how well it resonates with them rather than something you like personally. It should be memorable to THEM.
One of the most powerful aspects of Vehicle Graphics Advertising for Contractors is the fact that their vehicles are parked in residential or industrial areas while they are doing a job in the ideal target client’s area. Since they are in the neighborhood it acts as social proof for neighbors looking for similar service. The side of the vehicle acts as a large billboard so make sure that your message and contact information is boldly displayed.
Prospects will judge you by your vehicle so make sure that the design look clean and is consistent with what they would expect from you. Your logo is not as important as the solution you are communication to them. Your contact information will be irrelevant if you are unable to connect with them. Keep it clean and simple to allow them to focus on the message.

Graphics can be extremely powerful but only if it resonates with your target. A well targeted caption can be just as effective at a lower cost. Text colours and fonts become more critical as you reduce the amount of coverage. The less you plan on spending the more important the design of the text.

Park so that your vehicle is visible from as many angles as possible. Put a special offer on the vehicle that will cause a large percentage of people who see it to go to your website to claim it. Make sure you capture their information and create an auto responder sequence to send them valuable information on an ongoing basis.

If you do most of the above you will be well on your way and ahead of 90% of other contractors who simply slap their company name and offerings on their vans as a means of Vehicle Graphics Advertising.

I know what you are thinking How can I attract customers using just Vehicle Graphics?

There are a number of other supporting factors that go into make a sale and putting cash in the bank so let me first put it into perspective for you.

What is Vehicle Graphics Advertising?

The main objective is to interrupt customers, connect with them and convince them to purchase your product or service.

Here’s the challenge.

Your customers are bombarded with messages online, in magazines, on TV and on billboards every single day so they become get used to ignoring advertising. It’s so easy to find information on virtually any topic with a few mouse clicks, so why should they want to remember yours. What’s so special about your offer?

If you you are like many business owners who put their logo, services and captions on your vehicle it will be ignored by 97% of the people who look at it,. so, does Vehicle Graphics Advertising really work?

If you put cute or clever graphics on your vehicle it will make your vehicle memorable but it does not guarantee that customers will remember you company name, URL or phone number when they need your services.

Vehicle Graphics Advertising is extremely powerful however if done correctly.

At any given time 3% of the people looking at your vehicle will need your product or service at that very moment and another 6% within six months. If you understand how to connect with them on an emotional level so that they think, that’s the company I want to do business with, then you are on your way to success

Don’t be surprised if they follow you, or wave you over while driving.

The key to success is in connecting with them. Connection strategies are a topic on its own so it’s to your benefit to review this in more detail.

Try to connect with people who need your services NOW. Do this effectively and you will dramatically increase you success with Vehicle Graphics Advertising.

The real profit in Vehicle Graphics Advertising however is in getting the other 97% to take action. No one else is doing this using Vehicle Graphics Advertising. How do you do this? Is this even possible?

For now you should focus on your Ideal Customer and the 3% that need your stuff NOW. Think about that 6% that will need your stuff in the next 6 months as well.

What are they ACTIVELY looking for. What are their fears, concerns?

What makes them tick.?

What keeps them up at night?

How can you COMMUNICATE a solution that resonates with them?

You need to be very clear on this first step before going any further, if you wish to make money with Vehicle Graphics Advertising.

Once you understand your Ideal Customer’s needs you can start looking at ways to make them remember you. If you do the above successfully you will have addressed the first step of achieving Success with just Vehicle Graphics Advertising

Vehicle Graphics are one of the most powerful and cost effective forms of advertising but for most business owners the cost is still a a mystery. Once you understand what it cost and what you are paying for you will be in a better position to decide what you need to spend.

You have probably heard all about the benefits of Vehicle Graphics Advertising and how it’s the most cost effective form of advertising for small business owners. You’ve probably heard about the ability to dominate your local market or double sales.

No doubt you’ve been told about the importance of having a good design that can dramatically increase sales.

But I bet you’re still wondering what Vehicle Wraps Cost and what you need to spend. I know because this is usually the first question I get from business owners that call me.

I am hoping the following information will give you a good understanding of the various costs associated with Vehicle Graphics so you can decide how to get the best bang for your buck.

Here’s what you actually pay for and why:

1. The Initial Marketing Consultation: This is the time spent with a marketing expert to so they understand what your are trying to accomplish, who is your ideal customer, what is your unique offering, what resources. Not all companies do this but the ones that have an expertise in marketing usually do. Be wary of companies who do not as this is one of the most important aspects of getting results with Vehicle Graphics Advertising. Some companies charge an upfront cost that can range from $250 – $500 and some simply build it into the price of the Wrap.

2. The Vehicle Graphics Design: This process involves working with the designer or marketing expert to create an initial concept of your Vehicle Graphics on a template that is an exact replica of your vehicle. You will usually have three or four chances to make changes on the initial concept at a fixed rate and after that you may pay an hourly rate for more changes. The design also includes creating the high resolution printable files once the concept is approved. The cost of the Design usually ranges form $400 – $800. depending upon the complexity of the wrap. It can be more for larger more complex designs. The better you are able to communicate with clarity, the faster the process, the better your results and the lower your design cost.

3. The Printed Vinyl and Laminate: The cost of the material is usually the largest cost for most projects. Pricing is based on the square footage of printed and cut vinyl. The amount of wasted material is also considered since the vinyl being applied is cut from a standard width of about 52″. So, one design my use less vinyl but waste more because of the shape and complexity. Some types of vinyl’s and laminates cost more than others.

The best vinyl’s will obviously cost the most. It is difficult to tell the difference between a expensive and a low cost vinyl because the look the same when applied. The real difference is in how well they hold up over time and what happens when you remove them from the vehicle. Some low cost vinyl will shrink and will leave a residue that is difficult to clean when removed.

Liquid Laminates cost much less than film laminates but are thinner and do not protect the vinyl as well. They do not hold up as long over time. They are used to by larger companies to keep the material cost down.

See through Perforated Window Film is very popular but are fairly expensive especially when laminated. If you choose this option I suggest laminating as it’s worth the investment.

Material cost is difficult to calculate accurately so most companies have a general price based on the type of vehicle and the percentage of coverage (Full wrap, 3/4 wrap, 1/2 wrap etc.)

You should expect to pay on average of around $8.00 -$10.00 per sq. ft. for printed and laminated vinyl and approximately $15.00 / sq. ft. for Window Perforated Vinyl.

4. Graphics Installation: Some companies use in house installers while other sub contracted installers who work for multiple companies. Sub contracted installers are usually the most experienced and the best in the industry so they cost more. In-house installers usually cost significantly less but may not have the same level of skill or expertise as their contracted counterparts, unless the company does a high volume of installs weekly. Usually once an installer gets any level of expertise they go on their own, because they can make much more money and they are in such high demand.

A good installer can make a huge difference in the finished look of the vehicle as well as the long term durability of the wrap. Poorly installed wraps will lift prematurely or tear or may not be as neat in complex areas such as around door handles or mouldings.

Some vehicles such as HHR’s, Beetles, Hummers, Sprinters, Mini’s are extremely complicated to wrap and a experience installer is a must.

The pricing variation between the top installers only varies about $100.00 so it’s well worth getting the best you can. You should expect to spend between $400 – $900 on a wrap, depending on the amount of coverage and the complexity of the installation.

As you can see there are a number of variable costs involved in wrapping your vehicle so it is important to discuss your project in detail before asking for pricing. If you are on a budget it is best to discuss your price range with the company and ask them what they could do for you based on what you are trying to achieve. A good vehicle graphics company will advise you on the best type of coverage to achieve your results.

Vehicle Graphics Advertising should not be considered a cost but rather a revenue generating activity. Your focus should be on deciding how much you think you will generate once the campaign is successful, then decide how much you can afford to spend. Once you have a clear objective and budget you can start looking for someone who understands what you are trying to accomplish and is able to help you accomplish it.

The companies that get the best results are typically the most expensive but as they say you get what you pay for. It’s better to negotiate the price down from one of the best companies rather than settling for a low cost from someone who may not be able to help you accomplish your objectives.

Remember that you will be stuck with the graphics for at least 3 years so it should be done right. Trying to save a few hundred bucks on a wrap may cost you ten’s to hundreds of thousands in the long term.

Now that you understand the Costs of Vehicle Graphics Advertising you can decide if it’s right for your business.

Vehicle Wraps are one of the most effective forms of advertising for small business.
If done properly can allow you to create a Powerful Irresistible Wrap... One that causes prospects to take notice ans say..."That's the company I want to do business with".
Find out how you can create an Irresistible Wrap.

Vehicle Wraps are one of the most powerful forms of local advertising for small business owners.

You can literally dominate your local market if you understand marketing or if you work with someone who is an experienced Vehicle Graphics Marketer.

Imagine being able to connect with customers and cause them to say… “That’s the company I want to do business with”. That’s the power of Vehicle Graphics Advertising when done properly.

Unfortunately this is seldom the case with 99% of the Vehicle Wraps you will see on the road because they are not designed by marketers who understand Vehicle Graphics Advertising. They were designed by a Sign Shop Designer who created a design based on feedback from a business owner who thought this would be a great way to attract attention or showcase his product or services.

What you end up with is something that appeals to the business owner but not necessarily the customer and typically has nothing to do with effective marketing.

To design an irresistible vehicle wrap you need to include the following 4 elements in each design. If you miss any your success will be limited. If you include all four it can change the face of your business forever. You should absolutely be able to dominate your local market.

1. Capture Their Attention – You need to cut through the static. Create a crisp message that leaves nothing to the imagination. Clear, simple, short and to the point. This needs to be done effectively with the right combination of graphics and text. The amount of graphics and text will be limited by the size and type of vehicle being wrapped. You only have about 3 to six seconds to get your message across.

2. Communicate a High ROI Offer - Offer something that is of high perceived value in the mind of your customer. It should be something that they are actively looking for.

3. Create Believability - A picture is worth a 1000 words and you only have one chance to make a first impression. The overall look of your design must convey a level of confidence and believability in the mind of your customer. It must be consistent with the information you are conveying to the customer. They must believe you can do what you say you can do and feel comfortable in contacting you. This can all be done accomplished with the right design

4. Create Memorable Message with your Graphics - Clear concise graphics with a controlled flow of information, displayed strategically on the most visible areas of the vehicle will make it easy to scan your message quickly. The URL and phone number must be easy to remember and flow naturally and should be the last piece of information they read. The vehicle should be memorable as you will be counting on repeat viewing to be truly effective.

If you are able to address all of the four areas above you will have a Successful Vehicle Wrap Advertising Campaign.

As you can see the key components of a successful vehicle wrap advertising campaign is all about the customer and how well you are able to connect and convince them that you are the right company to do business with. In order to do this effectively you must first get clarity on who your target customer is and what their needs and desires are. Your high ROI offer needs to match up with and address their needs.

More importantly you need to be able to articulate all of the above effectively to your Vehicle Graphics Company or Vehicle Graphics Designer to have any chance of success. If not you will be taking a shot in the dark and guessing like 99% of the vehicles you see on the road.

Understand your customer, decide on your offer, communicate it effectively to your Vehicle Graphics Company and evaluate the design based on its ability to achieve your objectives and you will have an Irresistible Vehicle Wrap.

It’s quite easy to be successful with Vehicle Graphics… but you must understand Marketing.

The biggest problem is effectively communicating with your ideal target customer… The one that’s the best fit for your business and you for theirs.

It all boils down to effective design and unfortunately much of it is not obvious.. even for an seasoned designer…

Because you are dealing with a 3 dimensional object that is unique to most designers… most are used to working on a flat two dimensional pallet.

Here are some things to think about if you wish to be successful with Vehicle Graphics Marketing

Here are some of the basic “MUST’S OF VEHICLE WRAP DESIGN”

Focus on ONE Person. Your ideal customer. Don’t try to appeal to the masses as this will dilute your message and appeal to NO one. Your ideal customer must feel like you are the perfect solution to their problem and you are communicating directly to them.

Create EMOTIONAL attachment by using powerful graphics. Different Graphics create different emotion in different individuals. The graphic of a mother cuddling a baby, will have the most impact to a new mother. Not only will you get their attention but you will establish credibility with them. Statistics show that people buy on emotion and justify with logic

Use a powerful slogan to position yourself in the mind of the customer. Your objective is to create mindshare so they instinctively associate you with the desired product, service or need.

For example… You must be the computer expert that caters to the elderly, or the drycleaner that provides free delivery, or the restaurant where kids eat for free, or the financial planner that specializes in programs for young couples.

Being first is powerful but being perceived as first is even more powerful. Being the only one, or specializing is good. It creates positioning in the customer’s mind.

You are an expert or a consultant. Think of how you can achieve this with your vehicle wrap message. If should be short and designed to be effective, for repetitive viewing.

The design of your graphics should be consistent with the style and type of vehicle for maximum impact. Remember that there are millions of dollars spent on designing vehicles by companies like Toyota, Honda, BMW, Nissan, Ford GM, and others to come up with designs that appeal to the masses.

Take advantage of their expertise, by enhancing the look rather than contradicting it. It will confuse your target customer and result little if any emotional impact. I’ve seen many vehicles with wild graphics that simply do not work with the vehicle. I must confess that some of them have also been designed by us, but only because the customer insisted that this is what they wanted despite our recommendations.

I have also seen vehicles with very simple designs or very little graphic that are very effective and produce outstanding results. They typically cost very little for the customer and were easy to create and install. Usually they were customers who had little if any preconceived idea and simply said, “Here is what I want to accomplish, surprise me”.

LESS is MORE, design for a glance, but create lasting impression. Remember that your target customer is trying to drive their vehicle, sometimes at high speeds and only two to three seconds to glance at your vehicle. If they are interested, based on the first glance, you may get a second glance and they might even slow down to memorize your website.

You need to decide what information you would like them to remember most. The graphic, your caption or, your URL. Unfortunately, all of the above is not usually a reality, so at best two out of three is excellent.

Focus on the areas of most impact on the vehicle. The rear window and the sides over the rear wheel are the most powerful viewing areas while driving. Even though graphics look much cooler, and flows better on the sides of the vehicle. It is not wise vehicle wrap design strategy to focused on areas that are not visible while driving.

It’s very difficult to look at a vehicle that is driving beside you.. for more that a second, without feeling like you are going to crash into it. Try it for yourself. It’s almost impossible to read anything on the sides… unless it is over the rear wheels and you are behind the vehicle.

What about parked vehicles you ask? The sides are definitely a great resource as it allows for more and larger information, but graphics placed on the back and rear still work well if parked strategically. We do emphasize the sides more when designing for contractors, as they spend a significant amount of time parked in neighbourhood driveways, targeting cars and nosy neighbuors driving by.

Control the flow of the information. The reader has less than three seconds to absorb the information. The glance should first create interest or emotional attachment and make them feel like they want to know more. It should result in a second glance so they leave with your URL or Phone number in memory.

The eyes will tend to go to a graphic first and then flow from left to right, so don’t put the graphic at the end of the caption otherwise they will not read it. This will only confuse them and they tune out.

Your Take-Away is the key to getting results. Remember that you want them to call you or visit your URL so make it easy for them to find and remember it. The phone number or URL should flow naturally.

Remember that you are designing for your ideal customer. What’s most important to them, your phone number or URL? If your current URL is long… get a second one that’s shorter and linked it to your current site.

We are not always able to follow all of the guidelines above because of circumstances beyond our control, but we always use the guidelines above to evaluate the effectiveness of the final design. So if you are designing for results the above should be an integral part of your design process.

I wish you success with your vehicle graphics… now you are ready to choose a company to Design Your Vehicle Wrap.
